Gait analysis
If you suffer regular or repetitive running injuries or are looking to push your performance to the next level, then an assessment that includes a review of your running gait may help you to move forward. Gait analysis tools allow us to slow down movement to help identify patterns that may link to increased load and the potential for injury, as well as movement that negatively affects running efficiency and performance.
Recent preliminary research has identified links between hip movement and knee pain. Variables that include stride length, ground contact time, and the position and angles of the foot, leg and pelvis through the phases of running have an influence on inefficient motion causing braking effects and excessive rotation and vertical movements.
We will identify key issues and provide drills and exercises, as well as optimal treatment options, to facilitate a change to your running experience.
Programme design
If you’d rather have the flexibility of working out by yourself or using a different gym facility, we offer a programme and support service.
After a thorough conversation and assessment of your needs and potential restrictions, we will design a programme for you, that you can then work through in your own time. We can then monitor your progress and amend your programme on an ad hoc basis.
Yoga
Are you interested in knowing more about yoga? Are you interested in increasing your range of movement and strength using only your body weight, while quieting your mind and finding some focus?
Claire has been teaching Hatha Yoga and meditation since 2004, and specialises in teaching beginners. She believes that yoga classes should be light, with the aim of increasing awareness of the body and the mind.
As well as teaching drop-in classes, she has also taught tennis players, runners, triathletes and professional footballers.
Screening
Restrictions to joint mobility and limitations to muscle activation, strength and power will affect how you function, your potential for injury, and your performance level.
Whether you are aware of existing issues, recognise a problem but not its cause, or want to improve how you perform in your work or sports activities, our screening service will look at your movement patterns and identify areas to change by offering recommendations to improve function, mobility, stability, strength, power, fitness and performance.
